Former England and Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney will open up on his psychological well being battles right through a brand new documentary. Rooney, now supervisor of Championship facet Derby, addresses some tough subjects within the one-off movie, speaking about moments that resulted in media tales off and on the sphere. “I want people to have a better understanding of me as a person really. Throughout a young sportsperson’s life they go through difficult periods and there is a lot of me talking about moments where I was really down, I didn’t want to be around anyone,” Rooney mentioned the display’s release.
“People talk about mental health, at the time I did see someone at times. It is about realising what was going through your head and trying to cope with the pressure of playing for Manchester United and trying to be successful, playing for your country, then captaining your country and taking a lot of that pressure on as well.
“They are going to get an actual perception into what was once occurring within my head.”
Rooney burst on to the scene as a 16-year-old for Everton in 2002 before starring at Euro 2004 for the Three Lions, which led to a then world record move for a teenager to Manchester United.
“Getting thrown into the highlight as a 16-year-old and having to take care of the whole lot that incorporates enjoying to your nation at 17 was once all new to me,” added Rooney.
